Interior Archways by ArchCraft®
Grade
ArchCraft's® paint grade products are made primarily of Poplar (also known as tulip). We buy premium white Poplar with minimal color variation which promotes an outstanding final paint finish. Most of the components within our paint grade archway are solid Poplar. There are a few exceptions... our curved jamb is made with a Luan/MDF core and a Poplar veneer. This veneered surface guarantees a very smooth flat surface as compared to other methods. Columns for thicker than normal walls are made with jambs of MDF core and a Poplar veneer which ensures that they will stay flat for generations. Due to the automated manufacturing process by which our Monticello arch style is made, several of its components are MDF.
Even though our paint grade archway consists mostly of solid poplar, poplar veneers and occassional MDF, we do not recommend them for staining applications. For staining applications we can make your archway(s) from the specie of your desire.
ArchCraft® manufactures product from a variety of species. Some of the more commonly requested species are Northern Cherry, Brazillian Cherry, Superior Alder, Knotty Alder, Red Oak, White Oak, Hard Maple, Red Mahogany, African Mahogany, Sapele, Cedar, Clear Yellow Pine, Eastern White Pine, Knotty Pine and Walnut. Our stain grade archways are built of solid specie material and veneers. Our veneered surfaces are generally applied to substrates such as MDF and Luan and are applied according to AWI (Architectural Woodworking Institute) quality standards.
