Interior Archways by ArchCraft®

Elliptical Archway

As the name perhaps suggests, an elliptical arch is a portion of an ellipse. In fact it is exactly half or an ellipse or half of an oval.

Elliptical arches can be defined by a width and a rise height. Mathmatically speaking, there are other descriptive elements involved in ellipses, but for the purpose of defining an elliptical arch the width and rise height are all that is needed. The significant difference between segment and elliptical is that a segment has a single constant radius, whereas an elliptical blends multiple radii.
ArchCraft® uses a constant rise height of 12 inches for all standard elliptical opening widths. Standard opening widths range from 30 inches to 9 feet for elliptical archways.
If an ArchCraft® standard elliptical archway does not meet the requirements, custom ellipticals can be specified with a width and a rise. One of our product representatives, along with our design department are happy to draft an elliptical archway of your desire.
